We are in dire need of Rites of Passage
We are in complete lack of ceremonies that can transition someone through one important stage of their life to another.
All us westerners really have is marriage, birthday parties, school graduation, and funerals.
All of which are governed by either law, contracts, wills, or consumerism.
What about boys that want to become men? Or girls that want to become women? Or children that want to become adults?
Where have those practices gone in society?
What about ritualizing in new versions of yourself?
How are people rejoicing new relationships or relinquishing old ones?
Old job to a new job or old house to a new house. Why are people just celebrating achievements with dinner or getting drunk?
I could go on forever about how much we're lacking rite of passage.
This is a large contributing reason to why I created The Funeral.
An event where I can take initiates through a rite of passage, allowing them to ritualize the death of something that no longer serves them, and rebirth into the highest version of themselves.
I've felt the enchantment of the 2019 and early 2020 tours. I've seen the magic weave right in front of my eyes and the results that have been shared with me are massive.
This is what I'm passionate about, creating containers to transition from one space to another in ceremony.
This is what I will continue to do with the upcoming Funerals.

Some people commit suicide, as there’s a part of themselves they no longer wish to keep alive.

Once you've faced your ego, all the unimportant things are quickly put to rest and you begin to have a conversation with your soul. Why am I here? How did I end up in the situation? Is this worth putting my life at risk?
The answers you give yourself will quickly provide a lot of perspective to who you truly are.

Sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch all gone (or experienced differently).
They're a big part of what makes you human and when you're underground, they're all completely shifted!
This is why I say you begin to have a conversation with your soul.
Your human is dead.
It's like you're in a sensory deprivation tank but instead, you are hugged head to toe by the planet we come from.
This is one of the deepest meditations you'll ever experience.
There isn't space to scratch that itchy ear, peek an eye open to check your surroundings, or be distracted by a guided meditation voice - it's just you and the earth.
Some people are afraid of that level of silence.
Others treat it like a drug, consistently on a search for the next hit - ready to meet the God within themselves.

A facilitated space for those who are brave enough to die just to be rebirthed with a stronger sense of who they truly are.

Do we get buried head to toe?
Yes, your full body will be buried underneath the sand.
Do you have to go all the way covered?
No. Though I encourage going all the way under, I have had people do the ritual with just their nose and mouth above ground and I've had people with their full head out. Your experience is your experience, there's no shame or dogma around your choices.
How do we breathe?
We provide a snorkel for you to breathe through and have your head/neck on an angle to keep your throat from being vulnerable to the weight of the sand
How deep are we buried?
1 or 2ft deep
How do I know I am safe?
I have been practising this for over three years now. Over this time I have buried 100+ humans and have never been faced with an emergency. The Funeral has a support crew that have all previously been through the burial process. Each support is designated two initiates and will be sitting right next to your grave through-out the whole process. In addition, I watch over the whole space and assist with any personal needs.
Can I get out on my own?
Each initiate is buried 1 or 2ft deep which is enough to feel the pressure of the weight but to also get out at your own accord. I encourage each initiate to rebirth themselves out of their grave in a replica of coming out of your cacoon.
How long are we buried for?
30-60mins.
At the 30min mark, your support crew member will lean over your grave and lightly let you know that it's been 30mins. Here you have the choice to start coming out at your own pace or continue to bake in the oven a little longer.
At 60mins your support crew member will once again let you know it's been another 30mins. This time we request for you to start coming out now as we're ready for the next step of the ritual
Do people come out earlier?
Yes. Over the years and on the most recent Funeral tour people have asked to come out soon as the last bit of sand went over their faces. Before we start we give everyone a safe word and we can hear you through the snorkel. Again, your experience is your experience, there's no shame or dogma around your choices.
